My female leo's not eating...any advice?

Jack31081 Feb 07, 2004 01:17 AM

About a week ago, I noticed my female leo was not eating anything ai put in her tank. Mealworms, superworms, crickets...nothing.

She also doesn't seem quite as active as she used to be at night. She tends to hang out in one spot more than meander about her tank.

She's about a year old, healthy, no impaction, nice fat tail, no infections or anything as of last fecal check. She also shed just yesterday.

Could someone give me a rundown of the reasons why she wouldn't be eating? Perhaps then I can narrow things down a bit more. Thanks.

It is not uncommon for a gecko to go on a ‘hunger strike’ for a week or two during the winter and spring months especially. Keep a small amount of the food she is used to eating around, and when she’s hungry she’ll eat. Just keep an eye on her for a drastic change in weight or activity; these would be signs that your leo needs to go to a vet.

does your gecko look aftter is she in with other geckos or been exposed to a male....they tend to stop eating too right before laying eggs..if your gecko was not exposed to a male then its probably not this..

My female leo refuses to eat before and during a shed. Another reason could be that your female may possibly gravid(gonna lay eggs). But, I dont know if you breed geckos or not, so its probably the first one. Hope I helped !!
