Disinfecting wood

tworavens Feb 07, 2004 01:22 AM

Had a leo die because of some (undetermined) microbial or parasitic infection. The question I have is, can I disinfect the manzanita and cholla cactus I had in the enclosure? Will baking at 250 deg for a couple hours kill off the germs/parasites? How about a 10% bleach solution, what is that likely to do the wood? How about Virosan or Quatricide?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Chris

Scrub it with a wire brush in hot water, let it dry thoroughly, then bake it. 250 for a few hours should get anything internal or that you could scrub off the surface.
