Adult Burm enclosure questions

roachey56 Feb 07, 2004 08:25 AM

Although i am not going to be getting a burm for a long time if i do get one, but they are some of the coolest looking snakes i have ever seen. I have some questions on adult burmese python enclosures.

1)What size enclosure would you have for a 15 foot burm?
2)Do you have hide boxes in the enclosure?
3)What kind of furnishings do you have in the enclosure?
4)Could you post a pic of an adult burm enclosure?

I would say 8x4 foot floor space and at LEAST 2 feet high for any burm at or larger than 15 feet. You don't need hide boxes, but it couldn't hurt either if that's what you want to do. The only *necessary* furnishings would be a large un-tippable water bowl/dish/tub. Any additional "furnishings" are completely optional but certainly not necessary by any means. In fact, the more furnishings one puts in, the harder it is to clean up when the snake makes a mess. But if you don't mind extra work,... by all means. I wouldn't advise any climbing things for such a python though. A large heavy python can hang or hurt themselves by falling if there are extensive climbing branches or high shelves. Best to keep the big gals on the solid ground.
