What is the best way to remove algae on the shells of common musk turtles? I have 2 yearlings that I hatched last summer. Would the addition of chinese algae eaters work?
Chinese algae eaters get 8 inches long and like to harass other fish. I don't know if this affects you because I don't know what else is in your tank. Rubber plecos make great small algae eaters, but don't forget to feed them if there's not enough algae in the tank! Also, snails do a nice job of algae removal. Another method you could try would be to scrub the algae off with a toothbrush.
Wouldn't all those things get eating by the musk? I know my little hatchling will eat anything in his tank!

That's been my experience too. Musks like to go after pretty much anything moving. Of course chinese algae eaters are a bit beligerant too...wonder which would win turtle or fish <g>.
