i have a young water monitor that was so used to me...loved being held. i recently moved so i had someone hold him 4 me 4 a few days. wen he was brought home he seemed in good condition. i figured since he didnt know the new room but recognize his enclosure he prolly would take a few days to get used to it again. i left him alone for a week(not handling). then i statred handling again and now its been 2 months and hes still extremely jumpy, and runs into the tank walls sometimes wen i come by. hes nothing like he used 2 be. am i doing something wrong? ne ideas?

i would make an educated guess the animal is stressed out and scared to death. most likely having to do with environment and setup. reevaluate both.

I had the same prob when i moved my sav into his new enclosure last yr. what worked for me was putting a curtain up in front of his enclosure to give him some peace and quiet for awhile. You also have to make sure he has at the least one secluded hide spot where he can get totally out of sight(u cant see him, he cant see you).

hope it helps,
good luck!
