Is this good enough for 2 FBT's?

jlizard Feb 07, 2004 03:06 PM

This is a 10 gallon tank with land and water. it has floating plants for hide and if you look on the land part u can see a cave in the dense plants. Moss and more cage decor are still to come but before i go further is this ok

Difficult to see from the photos, but it looks like there may not be enough water area for FBTs, which are highly aquatic and like at least half of the tank to be water.

First off how many toads are going to be housed in that tank? Also i think that the tank is good and you shouldnt add anything else but mabye a small small plant on land so it has another hide. Also i found that if you are going to use that gravel and have water in the tank and not in a big bowl that you should buy a peice of glass 2 inches high and as wide as your tank is because with water the gravel will gradually fall into the water causing less water room, and when you get a FBT in there he/she will mess it up more. Another suggestion is that i would actually get a 3 inch high piece of glass and only fill the gravel 2 and a half inches high and leave half an inch of glass sticking out so that your crickets wont kill themselfs. To prevent crickets from hopping over the glass just pinch off the back "jumper" legs of the crickets.

thanks. to answer your questions. I am only going to house 1 in there for now. and i am going to feed the FFBT in a seperate container. so i wont worry about the criz. i am going to get the glass cut. but i was wondering if 2 can fit comfortably in my cage or if 1 is good for now.

Yeah id say that it is ok to house 2 FBT in that 10 gallon cage. Just dont add any more big plants. You could put a small one in the middle of the land like something 3 inches big.
