I have a huge canyon in my back yard. There are a variety of weeds and dry grasses. I live in San Diego CA. Without being able to identify these different plants could it be safe to offer them to my young Leopard Tortoise? I have noticed my Tort today eating his own poop, i think i remember that some animals do this if thery are not getting enough of the right suppplements or nutrients in their diet, is this correct? I have been offering dandelion green and the spring mix that comes in a bag, i supplement with d-3 everyday as well. When i take the guy out in the grass, he doesnt eat it, but he does go for bark and dirt. Any comments or suggestions?
On another note, he has become very popular in the house. I find myself sitting in class wondering what he is up to. I will always love my snakes, i never could get stoked on lizards, but the tort is really rewarding. I find it very relaxing at the end of a long day to take the tort outside and just watch him cruise.
