i am making a viquarium set up in a 45-55 gallon tank, since they wont be that close, wouldnt they be pretty safe, also these cali newts i am gettin from my neighbor have been raised on newt food, will they still go after live food?

The Red-bellied Newt (Taricha) is probably not available, but you could probably keep Taricha grannulosa with a torosa.

Tarichatoxin is extremely potent, any frog that tried to eat one would die.

I know a lot of people say toxins dissapear in captiviry, but I have read a research paper saying the toxins increased in a Taricha.

45 - 55 gallon tank is much smaller than you realize. Mixed species vivs usually only work out if the cages are really big.
