How about a rubber tree?I use one in my basilisk cage.

Go with a broadleaf shefelera also known as shefelera amate. These are really sturdy plants. The branches can stand up to a large Veileds powerful grip plus you can drip water into them everyday without causing root rot.
I know you saif no Ficus but instead of the usual Ficus benjamina check out a F. alli. They have much sturdier branches than any of the others mentioned.
