Powerline Universal Power Adapter

Powerline was the brand of UP adapter that i found at walmart. But it had three different chords coming out of it and one had four different parts on it. So would i just strip two of the chords and hook them up to the ones on the fan. If anyone has done this or know what im talking about please help.
