Wooden & Mesh cages

Does anyone keep their Monitor in a wooden cage with wire mesh screens? How do you prevent insects form escaping when you feed your monitor?

you shouldnt keep monitors in screen cages, screen cages cannot hold heat, thus they cant sustain the high temperatures that monitors need.

Hmmm, did you even ask where this poster is from, JT?

Enclosed cages in humid areas like Fla. are mold and fungi sinks. A wire cage would be recommended, to provide air flow.

By screen cages, I take it you mean welded wire mesh? I live in a tropical countrywhere it never snows and the coldest temp won't get below 20 degrees celsius and is often above 30. So is this heat trapping applicable?

If not, what do you suggest then? I read a book about Monitor keeping and says glass tanks filter out UV light and trap heat, potentially cooking the lizard alive.
