Plus you do not want to house different species together for a couple of reasons:

1. They probably will not get along and one will eat or kill the other

2. One may have commensal bacteria and parasites that will harm or kill the other one.

3. Most species have very different housing and husbandry requirements (certainly an anole and a beardie have VERY different requirements, beardies live in the desert)

4. Beardies like to be alone, they do not need friends or companions.

if i walk by my beardie with my collared in my hand he will jump at the glass and bite at it... so i wouldn't recommend it at all...

What conditions do you keep your beardie in? What conditions do you keep you anole in?

I ask this because even the thought of putting them together would easily kill one of them (even if the dragon would not eat your anole).

conditions for a beardie is desert conditions.. you would need the temp to be high like 80-110*F.. but i have mine in temps of 80-85 and at night 60-70*F. mine does fine in those temps! you should have a temp therm. and a humidity one. the humidity should be high, 100-115*F, spray if low. also if ur beardie's mouth is hanging open its because its to dry, you have to spray the cage each day with a squirt bottle or a mistter. for a beardies floor, you'd want sand.. really thin sand for younger ones and then when full grown u can get in-expensive play sand. you may also use news paper for young beardies, very easy to clean! you'd want a UVB bar light, a heat lamp 100 watts minimum, and if its cold at night or you live in cold conditions where it snows a night red light. if your thinking WHOA how will i find all of this, just ask the assistant at the pet store. a peice of drift wood for them to bask on, a place that has a space underneath where he or she can crawl, like a hallow half log, or a water dish that levels off the ground.
*****************************************************************DO NOT GET A HOT ROCK OR HEATED ROCK, THEY WILL FRY YOUR LIZARD LIKE A PANCAKE!
dont put an anole and a beardie together, i asked the same question, beardies are very independent, one will eat the other, and an anole could give the beardie an illness and kill both of the lizards. U MAY PUT AN ANOLE WITH UR BEARDIE, JUSTT NAME THE ANOLE LUNCH!
I DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT ANOLES. ANY MORE QUESTIONS ON BEARDIES I CAN ANSWER~ ASK ME!!!

That humidity is way too high. It should be less than 50%. As for the mouth being held open, they do that to expel heat, it's very normal, it has nothing to do with humidity. I wouldn't recommend spraying the entire cage daily, especially if you use sand, as the moisture could cause a lot of bacteria to grow. I take my young beardie out of his cage to spray him, then put him back in when I'm done so he can dry off.

You should not use sand for young beardies at all. Babies should be on paper towels, newspaper, or shelf liner. Sand shouldn't be used until they are older, and even then there are still certain risks involved.

Temps at the basking spot should be 105-115, 80 is waaaaaaaaay too low!

Since you stated the info you did you are in major need of some research on beardies. Check out this link, it is sooooooo much different than what you think is the correct husbandry for you beardie.

Good luck and happy researching!!

I asked becasue if you knew what a beardie likes to live in and what an anole lives in - you would know that they could NEVER live together. Dry and humid, hot and warm.

The herps are like night and day.

BeardieGurl Feb 10, 2004 02:56 PM

sorry, i know i was wronge on that humidity.. i got a lil mixed up.. SORRY ALOT. i was told from some one that had a few beardies, that they open there mouth wide when its to dry. my beardie did that once, but never again. i use very thin sand from a pets store. it's not dangorous and its alright to let them eat some of the sand while eating. its some kind of vitamin added to the sand which helps them digest and doesn't give impaction. my beardie has been doing GREAT in the sand i have him in. i will considor cleaning out my beardies cage and not spraying derectly into the sand.

THANX!!
