paper towels

xxldmblue13xx Jun 08, 2003 10:33 AM

I have been using desert litter substrate (ground walnut shells) for a little while now but I constantly worry about impaction and have decided to revert to good old paper towels. I was just wondering, as a general rule, about how many layers of paper towels is ideal for the substrate?

Get Your Leos off the walnuts shell now. impaction is the least of your worries if they swallow them. the sharp edges of the shells will cut them up. they will also cut them when they walk on them. I would rather see them on sand then walnut shells. and i think sand sux. All i use is plain white paper towels. I don't even think the ink on colored papertowels is safe. over protective? Maybe.
