Tail Kink?

lbonachea Feb 07, 2004 09:12 PM

Hey all,

Dumb question. I was given a few rehab-ed leos and one has a bad tail kink. Its a shame cause shes a beautiful little patternless. It's always been my experience and understanding that tail kinks are preventable, but permanent once they happen.

Is there anything wrong with her having the tail kink? Will she still make a good breeder? Ive raised my breeders from hatchlings so Ive never had to deal with this.

Thanks

Luis

kinks in patternless geckos are more cooomon than in other morphs it is believed to a a genetic flaw and in my opinion an animnal with a kinked tail should not be bred to keep from passing it on to future offspting

I agree with Robin. Kinked tails are an undesirable trait and more common in patternless. Responsible breeders try to eliminate this (and other undesirable traits)from future generations as best they can, and do not breed animals with kinked tails or even those than tend to throw animals with kinked tails. The animal should not be bred, ever. That being said, the tail should not interfere with her living a full and enjoyable life as a pet in any way.
