Question about shipping adult RETF

BigRedCat Feb 07, 2004 09:18 PM

I have 5 adult(well around 4 months old now) RETF's and I live in San Diego. I will be moving in a couple months to North Carolina and of course want to keep my frogs. Would it be possible for me to have a local breeder hold them for me until I get over to N. Carolina then overnight them via FedEx? I know some breeders here ship them overnight so I figure they should be ok but was wondering if any of you have experience shipping them. I would hate to give up my froggies!

place them in 'deli cup' containers(1 per container), with small air holes, a paper towel and a small amount of water. place them in a styrofoam box(disposible cooler, worm container, etc) and pack around them with newspaper. If weather is colder than 65 degrees fahrenheit, place a disposable hand warmer in the styrofoam container for heat.

p.s. Technically UPS and FedEx won't ship live animals as stated in their policies. I have received frogs via FedEx, in plain packaging without any discernable "live animal" type markings. I guess don't ask, don't tell?.............

hope this helps.
