i got 'em!.. this okay?

anemone Feb 07, 2004 10:29 PM

I finally got some Baby Leopard geckos. I read somewhere that it's better to have only one.. but I just couldn't bring myself to leave without 2. I got them each for $17.99 and named them Gicko and Star. I've only had them since yesterday.. they'r eating, sleeping, pooping, doing just great! But.. I don't know if their male or female yet. If they're 2 males, they won't fight since they been brought up together will they? Oh, and I put them in a 15gallon tank, undertank heater, 1" of gravel and then reptile carpet(so it's not right on the heat), and some decorations(lizard ladder, bowls, logs, ect.). Sound good?

This isn't about removing the gravel, that's not my decision, but a question. Who told you to put them on gravel? I know a bunch of people use gravel, it just seems odd to me. I guess that's just something I would never thought of. I think of gravel going into fishtanks! Just kinda curious!

I don't think the geckos are right on the gravel, I think the gravel is just being used to seprate the repticarpet from the UTH a little. Atleast that's how i read it.

yeah, that's what i'm using it for

i never liked cage carpet either , unless i was just displaying them for show.. the reason is because they can get their teeth hooked on it.. watch how a gecko goes after a crickets, they tend to miss sometimes, i've seen them miss crix and get their teeth stuck on the crapets and they sit and thrash trying to get loose. how big of gravel is he talking about...when i hear gravel i'm thinking along the lines of fish gravel too.
