Male "spuring"his cage?

toddbecker Feb 08, 2004 12:42 AM

I noticed the other day that my male albino burm which is almost 7' long was incredibly active the and upon closer inspection I saw that he was actually scratching on the floor of his enclosure. Is this sign of him looking for a mate? Isn't he still a bit small. Everything I have read states that males should be atleast 7' but more closer to 8' to start breeding. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Todd

Just kidding.

No, seriously though,.. that's perfectly big enough to breed. And yes, that IS an indication that he wants to breed. Some of the males I use are 6 foot yearlings.

Now if only my two females were a little bigger we would be set. Unfortunately they are only 8'. I had thought about try anyway, but I have decided to hold off about six months until they are closer to 10. Anyway, thanks for the reply. Todd
