1. Suggetions for roaches to feed leos are:Lobster, orange heads, orange spotted, and discoids.

2. Contain them with tape around the top sides, bugstop, or bug barricade.

3. depends on species. Lobsters breed fast and furious so you could start with a male and few females and your colony is well on the way. Orange heads, Disocids, and Orange spotted take longer so i would suggest more. My first purchase was 100 adults and nymphs.

4. Do a search on the species listed above and you will find what you need. I own Orange heads and Disoids and they require no barrier around the top and neither does Orange spotted. Lobsters can and will climb so they will need a barrier which you can get online just look in the feeder or cage classified section.
The species listed are not very expensive and readily available.

What size container should I get for lobster or orange heads?

jusmebabe Feb 08, 2004 02:30 PM

I use 66 quart rubermaids for mine. I use toilet paper and paper towel tubes for hiding and a thin layer of aspen bedding for the young to hide..

What would you reccomend for beginner? Orange Heads?

jusmebabe Feb 08, 2004 08:41 PM

I would get Orangeheads or Discoids if you don'r want to worry about escapees.
They have the same care.

30.00 for 12 roaches is crazy whether i know the guy or not.
Paradisio, go to www.cricketfood.com (there in the classifieds) with good prices. Nothing against roachman but if your looking to start a colony at those prices it'll take a verrrry lomg time. Also check the link below. Many sellers and great prices..

gutloader & jusmebabe, You guys both had good suggestions. But I'm afraid I'm the lesser costing alternative. I'm kind of new to the scene but I have been very good at keeping up with the demand and still keeping the lowest price in town (or the nation). Currently offering lobster roaches as well as orange heads. Check us out!
