Why do we breed the spots out?

angelawina Feb 08, 2004 02:10 AM

I am definatly ont opposed to breeding for less spots, but I am wondering why we do it? Macularius, of Eublepharis macularius means spots, so why do we make it untrue?
Also, I am partial to a few body spots, like on my Missy. What is everyone else's opinion, and post pics if you want!!

i am hoping and working on producing a orang and black gecko.......
may suceed may not but ill have alot of fun trying

this is my female

she is one of the most unique geckos i have ever seen
i bred her to this guy

i would have liked more spotting but the oprange color was perfect and the fact he has black head spotting and black tail markings as well as some spots on his back makes him a good candidate....

so far i have hacthed one from this pairing this year... looks like a high yellow right now BUT i expect him to color up VERY well and i was exciterd about the amount of black he has... he just had his first shed.. and his legs are getting very orange and his bands are getting a deeper yellow/gold... it will be interesting to see how he matures
this pic was takes just a couple hours after he was born

as soon as my batteries recharge (tomorrow) i will post new pics of him

Keep up the good work! I’m looking forward to seeing how your hatchling progresses. That is a really nice mother you have there.
