This behavior is deeply rooted in the captive environment in which the animal is held. Something it is exposed to is less than optimal and it is doing its best to find another environment that will cause less stress for it. Make sure the tank it is housed in is adequately sized, ideally a 20 gallon tank or larger. Are there any other animals in the tank, there should not be!!! What are the temperatures, what is the light cycle, what is the humidity? What kind of water are you using? Does it have enough hide spots? DO YOUR RESEARCH and find out what is wrong with its enclosure. Do not take this behavior lightly (obviously, or else you wouldn't have taken the time to post here) because even simple nose rubs can get infected and go systemic.
