weird veiled behavior....?

ludachris821 Feb 08, 2004 10:02 AM

my 5 month old veild just finished a shed and is starting to show very lovely colors all the time now and his bandings are staying a yellow now and every since he has finished his shed , a few days ago, he scratches the palms of his hind legs on his vines and also will go back and forth scratching his belly occasionally. he has all the propper uv lighting and basking spots and is in a screen cage with humidity going well. he eats like a pig and is always active so my question is , is he just itchy from shedding or maybe has a few patches left he's trying to get, he also drinks regulary and is hydraded nicely, he has trippled in size in the 3 months i have had him, any suggestions? ps. he is captive bread and male

I wouldn't be too concerned. I have noticed that the skin on the palms of my veiled's feet always seems to be the last skin to come off. I have seen him rub his belly on the vines on rare occasion but if this is to get remaining fragments of skin off or to do his threatening "cha-cha" dance is anyone's guess.

Just watch him for a couple of days to make sure all is well.
