MY MALE CORN IS STRIKING EVERYTHING IN SIGHT

bxherp Feb 08, 2004 11:54 AM

Hi...I just took my male corn out of brumation and boy is he pissed. He is striking everything in sight...I took him out of a plastic container that is virtually hard to see in and put him in a 20 gallon tank. He never struck at me and right now he is nasty as heck...Will he calm down...Let me know what you think...Thanks in advance.-ELvy

The snakes I just took out of brumation each tagged me last night.
I think they still feel vulnerable after being cooled for so long.
I am pretty sure that they will calm down quickly enough. Especially after they start eating regularly again.
I wouldn't worry.

They didn't actually bite as much as just strike with thier mouths open. They could have grabbed on but instead they just struck and pulled back. Just defensive not aggresive.

Hey Draybar....Exactly my point....You describe my snake's behavior perfectly...It seemed like a defensive thing...Well thanks for the help. ELvy

He thinks he found a safe hiding spot and you found him out. (Even though you put him there! LOL!) Once you start handling him regularly again, he'll be ok. Feed him and give him some time to readjust. He'll be a good boy again.

Also, I've seen snakes do this when they haven't shed lense covers correctly...they can't see through the extra skin and strike at everything that moves because they don't know what it is.
