Algae problem

Andy1982 Feb 08, 2004 03:40 PM

For the time being, i have my male map turtle in a 10 gallon aquarium. I plan to upgrade the size of his habitat when i move soon here, so i decided not to get a filter for the aquarium. Instead, i change the water daily, filling about six inches high or so. I do add AlgaeFix and water de-chlorinator to the water for him. There are a couple of cage decorations in there, one for basking, and one just for looks i guess. For a while, i had no algae problems in there, but now i am noticing some on both the cage decorations, and on his shell. So, first question is how do get the existing algae off the cage decorations, and off his shell without harming him? And next, how do i make sure the algae does not come back? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
