Inducing Crested Breeding?

thundergibbon Jun 08, 2003 11:58 AM

Hi there,
I have an adult male crested and I intend on buying a female, I was just wondering how I induce breeding and what is the relative breeding ease?

Thanks for any help.

Justin

Most crested geckos start breeding around Jan-Feb. If you are not keeping them together year round (which I recommend) just place them together. Since the male hasn’t seen the female all year he will not hesitate for a second…lol. Just leave them together until she lays her first clutch then separate them. She will continue to lay until her sperm reserves are used up, at which point she is done laying until next year. However make sure your new female is quarantined for a few months to make sure she has no health problems. Not to mention so she can settle in her new home. Best of Luck

Hi Mike,
Thanks for that.
I don't suppose you could you direct me to some good sources of info for egg & hatchling care?

Thanks again.

Hi, I am just getting started with crested geckos. I am hoping to bred some eventually. A picture of my first crested is attached.
When do you recommend putting the male back in with the female if you remove him after she lays her first clutch?

Until the next season.
