Just got my new veiled chameleon.......feeding question.

r6guy905 Feb 08, 2004 06:13 PM

I just purchased a 5 month old veiled chameleon from a local breeder. The breeder was saying that he was feeding him about 6 crickets a day. Now, my question is this, how much should they be eating a day? My little guy eats every cricket within 30 secs, almost like he is starving. I have fed him about 10 or so today, but I am not sure if he will stop eating when he is full, or continue eating past the point. All of the set-ups I have seen, there is crickets in the cage, but with my guy, the crickets won't last long at all.

Let him eat. he's a growing boy and needs his nutrition. Now if he starts pigging out and eats over like say 15-20 in one sitting, then its time to start regulating his crickets.

I agree with Joy. But the advice would be different if this was a female. At about 6 months they need to go on food restriction to prevent hyper-ovulation.
