UPDATE ON NEAR_DEAD BT!

jay111 Feb 08, 2004 08:17 PM

Well, i went to see about that bt i mentioned in my lower post, and im happy to say that i got him to eat 2 rat pups, and he did it rather enthusiastically for a sick lizard. I also put a 120w dome light on him to boost his temps. Im hoping that he continues to eat and makes a rebound, but im curious about any internal/organ damage that may have been sustained due to whatever ailment he has. When i mentioned boosting temps to his owner, he responded by saying that bt's are " A northern animal whose natural habitat does not reach 120-130 degrees, and therefore he doubted if temps were part of the issue." I didnt push the issue, i just went ahead and put the lamp on him. i guess time will tell now.

Tell your friend that in the southern hemisphere, north equates with warmer, south with cooler.

Even in the southernmost, 'coolest' parts of the species range, though, the basking temperatures will be pretty high.

Did he think you meant ambients? or did he understand it was a basking area?

Plus as DK said he is mixed up north is hot and south is cool over there.

No, he knew basking. Unfortunately for some of his critters he "knows everything"
