I dont think theyre considered good beginner snakes, mostly because of humidity requirements and their tendency to be aggressive.

Hers a good caresheet

I have found the Habba Mist to be very useful for my ATB. However, Im also run a tropicare humdifier, which cost about another $20, plus the pump, to help iwth mabient humiidity, and avoiud having to use long burst from the pump, whic flood the cage, opening up the door for bacterial growth, etc..You can find the HabbaMist for abnout $40 - don't pay $80 like at the pet shops. You could avoid both of these, if you mist regularly, but that's a PITA, and presents a problem when you are not home...

Thay are agressive, but a pair of gloves solves that. They are fragile, though, so it kinda makes for a bad combination, if you are uneasy around snakes...

Be sure to keep the cage clean, as the with the high humidity, the probability of making the snake sick is greatly increased. In my limited expereience, this breed does not make a good "pet" because of their nast disposition.

How about a nice ball python? BCI, if you can handle their size...I'm kind of a noob myself, but did a lot of homework before the ATB, and so far, so good....
