To those of you who have had a prolapsed male....

lovelyleopards Feb 08, 2004 09:41 PM

One of my males prolapsed tonight, and this is a first for me. Of course it is one of the nicest hypo tangerines I have. One of the hemipenes has gone back in, and the other is making progress. My question is this: for those of you who have had a male prolapse during breeding season - how long did you keep him away from the girls to allow him to heal and get back to normal? Should this guy be done for the season, or is a few weeks by himself sufficient? Thanks!

A couple of weeks should be ok, but you must watch him closely once you begin breeding him again. If he prolapses again you may want to consider not attempting to breed him anymore.

Good luck I hope everyting "goes back in" this time!
