New Mali not really eating. (??)

smallFry Feb 08, 2004 10:01 PM

Picked him (or her) up Friday night and put him in the enclosure. I left him alone for the night except to watch him for a bit. He was digging in the sand like a champ, already creating a bed for the night. He didn't touch his mixed vegetables at all.

The next afternoon he took 4-6 bites from a small collard green leaf and that was it for the day. Today he didn't touch his fresh mixed vegetable mix but DID eat 1.5 quarter-sized collard green leafs (from my hand).

I'm concerned that he's not eating enough. Do they generally eat a lot or just when I'm not looking? The basking temp. is about 115-120F and the 'cool' side is around 80F. I have the veggies on the cool side out of the heat and I also picked up some Finch seed to go along side the veggies.

thanks!

i would say not to worry too much about him not eatin too much yet....if u just got him on friday he is still adjustin to the move.

i would raise his baskin temp u some too. unless its a baby, i don't remember if u said it was a baby or not.

i wouldn't be worried though about it not eatin that much yet. hope this helps.
