I need a source for rubbermaids (more)

Kevin Saunders Feb 08, 2004 10:41 PM

I'm in the process of designing a rack and space is limited. Can someone hook me up with a site listing numerous models and their dimensions? Also, I don't know what everyone here keeps, but do you guys think it would be ok to keep cornsnakes in containers only 6 inches high if given plenty of floorspace? I'm all for giving my animals room to move in every direction, but I really need to get this rack done soon and so far I'm having trouble finding containers of the right dimensions (it'd be perfect if I could find a few different ones with 1 foot of height.) Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi Kevin,

Finding the perfect box can be a frustrating process. Especially on the web where the listed dimensions don't really indicate if the box has domed lid, and how much space it takes up, if there are feet on the bottom, or if it's flimsy.

Regarding the cornsnakes, they are routinely produced in large numbers in small rubbermiads with floor areas of 20" x 14" and less than 6" of height.

Personally I think that's too small, but it certainly suggests the same height with more floor area would work.

Look at the Iris CB-80 tub from Reptiletubs.com. The floor area is about 14" x 27" and the box is 12" tall. It is a very durable box but a bit hard to find. I've also seen it at "Organize Everything" stores and "The Container Store".

Otherwise, you need to check out rubbermaid.com and sterilite.com. Irisusainc.com also has some boxes not listed on the Reptiletub.com site (which sells Iris boxes only).

The guys from Reptiletubs.com are great to deal with.
