Stubborn or done for good... I need help

geckogirl85 Feb 08, 2004 11:48 PM

The last time I bred my female Cesar was in May 2003. Now ever since (even after hybernating her and separating her from the male) she still won't let him mate her.
I've put them together many times and when he grabs on to her tail she swats him away and waves her tale at him. In 2003 she layed two clutches of fertile eggs and she was done for the season, now I want to start her and my newer female on the new season, and after having Diego (male) with Scream, my newer female, I switched Diego to Cesar's cage and he tried mating her but she swatted him away again. Will she just need more time, or is she done for good?

Cesar is about 2 years old.

Thanks

Jessica

Ive never breed any leo's, but females production peaks at about 3 years of age, so I highly doubt shes done for good.
Maybe someone else can give you a suggestion on whats happening.

You may have better luck putting the female into the males cage. She may still be resistant, but if you put her in for a few minutes, and try a few days in a row, she should come around.

when her body tells her the time is right. When she begins to develop egg follicles her body will tell her that it's time and she should accept your male's advances then. Keep trying, it will happen.
