Got a couple pics of the little one who I call Sully and who I suspect is male, but who really knows at this size. He's around 23" now and has had a tremendous growth spurt in the last month or so (only had him about 2.5 months). Enjoy! Billy

i have the same lizard and i keep them in a 6ft by 4 ft by 3.5 ft cage that is insulated all the way around with a 15 gallon lake but untill they are bigger you can keep them in a smaller area as long as there is enough hide spots and substrate with clean water every day!!!! email me at crmstele@aol.com if you are interested in buyin a water, i have an amazing one!
Right now he is an 7.5' x 3' x 3' cage with another, slightly larger Water. This cage is only temporary (probably no more than another 2 years) and then they will have something at least 10' x 6' x 6'. The cage is set up with lots of different height levels (I added a few shelves since the below pic was taken) and lots of different corresponding heat zones. They use every inch of that cage on a daily basis and they are both only /- 2 feet long TL. They also have about 6" of dirt to burrow in and are quite proficient diggers. So they are happy but dirty! I would definitely NOT recommend a Water as your first monitor as they have the potential to reach truly gigantic proportions, and even a moderatley sized individual (5-6 feet long) can be a real bruiser with a huge appetite and correspondingly huge eliminations (on a daily basis)! If you are dead set on a monitor I would strongly suggest something smaller like an Ackie or one of the gouldi complex crosses. Good luck! Billy
