chameleon eggs

djxmasterchief Feb 09, 2004 02:45 PM

hi, i just had a coupled of my veiled chameleon eggs start hatching. i took out the container in which they were in and as soon as i saw that all the veileds hatched that day , i put them back into the closet. so i wondered is this the right thing? because no more of the chameleons seem to be hatching, and some are drying up and dying, and im scared i screwed this one up big time. So any info might be helpful.

Ok your post is a little confusing. All your veileds hatched and you have other eggs that are drying up and dieing? you took them out of their incubation substrate and put them in the closet with no substrate? this is what I thought you were saying from your post.

They should not be moved out of the laying substrate and if they are drying you should definatly add more water, I've even herd of people moistening their substrate a very tiny bit more than normal when its close to hatching time to simulate the rainy season in nature.

This was my brother, younger, and isn't very understandable sometimes. What he meant was that we have had three babie chameleons hatch out, but the ones we have left in the boxes (we didnt remove the substrate) arent hatching and some are dying. I hope I helped to clear things up.....

ok, yea...do like I said, try adding a tiny bit more water to the substrate to see if that will "re-inflate" the shriviling ones.
