How many times is it safe?

Matt Hampel Feb 09, 2004 04:02 PM

How many times is it safe to reheat a rat??? I offered Saige (female Ball) at pre-killed rat (a little tap on the desk does the trick for me) and she refused it, she always fed on pre-killed rats though. So I froze it. Then I thawed it and warmed it in hot water, she refused it again, but she has also taken rats that were frozen and thawed on many occasions. I froze it again, is it not safe to heat and offer it up to her again?

Id say its not safe to refreeze. Use a fresh one each time.

I've rethawed a mouse several times and my ball ate it without any ill effects. Still, I'd say don't thaw it more than twice.
