Regurge!!!!

rugha Feb 09, 2004 04:12 PM

Help me please. Both my corns are prone to regurging their meals a day or two after eating. They are housed alone, in a rack with steralite (32qt) boxes. Temps are about 78-80 in front and around 90 in the back of the box, when the heat tape is on. Ambient air temp in room is around 75, sometimes hitting 80 if the woodstove is running.

Neither snake is a great eater and it pains me when I get them to eat and they spit it back up! Substrate is a desert type of sand found at most reptile supply places. It is not as fine as sand though.

Are corns prone to regurgitating their food?

Thanks for the help!

corns don't need it that hot, and they probably would do better on a wood chip or paper towel substrate rather than sand. If they're in a rack, and you have other snakes that need temps that high, maybe you could just turn the corns heat tape offor disconnect it from the line. 90 is pretty warm. assuming you're talking farenheight and not celcius. though i think celcius would be even hotter?

Just my opinion

I agree with Ice.I dont even care about ambient temps, give them a hotspot and a place to cool off, around the 70's range.Kathy has one of the best regurge sheets ive ever seen.Good luck and keep us posted...Paul
