They yello, orange, and gold terribs really haven't been in the US all that long. It also take about 2 years for them to reach breeding age, So the people that have them right know no better than to do this. Anyway why would someone want to mix a $40 frog with a $125 frog (these are the prices from 2 years ago)
Because if the offspring look cool and they can fool the right people, they could get $200 for each froglet.

Coyote I don't think fooling people is a good idea in this hobby. As we don't like to buy frogs, that are supposely "new morphs" and find out later that is was crossbred.
Just my 2 cents.

Don't get me wrong, I am in no way an advocate for crossing any morphs. I recently got into an arguement with a dealer I have used for some time because he was selling turquoise auratus that were merely blue and green auratus crosses. I have 3 true El Cope Turquoise who's parents were collected by a friend of mine, Ian Hiller. The hybrids body shape is all off, so I knew that they weren't from the true turquoise strain. When questioned about it, he finally fessed up that they were hybrids. That being said, the reason why someone would want to cross a mint with a yellow terribilis is to make a quick buck. This guy was getting 75 bucks a frog, without blinking an eye.
We all need to be very careful who we get our frogs from. I only get mine from dealers I know and trust, or that my friends in the hobby recommend like Sean Stewart (herpetelogic.net), Bill Weirts (qualityexotics.com), Ian Hiller, Saurian Enterprises, Vanishing Jewels, T&C Terrariums, Quality Captives, Pumilo.com, or Black Jungle. When some random person offers up an expensive morph at a good price, I am very leary of trying it out. Who knows what they will actually ship you, and if they even know that they have in the first place.
My goal is to set up a database which has every major breeder listed, with what they are producing, how many, and what bloodline. This way we can maintain these morphs and species that are going extinct in nature at an alarming rate, and in that way truly be responsible hobbyists.
Sorry, but I think that is a bit more than my two cents.

Hey Shannon,
The Data base is closer than you know.... and it is going to allow a lot of people to follow the bloodlines of thier frogs. I would say we are still a ways off, but getting closer.

did any of you consider he was curious only what it would look like, and in no way intrested in actually crossing them?
why does everyone get so pissed off when someone asks a question about this. everyone who reads this board knows the general opinion is that crossing is a horrible idea.
just because someone has a question about that doesnt mean they are going to do it.
am i the only one who remembers when it was safe to ask a question here?

Victoria and others,
I was not trying to be rude, but answer his question. Email and message boards are a easy place to misunderstand people, because the lack of voice inflection. He asked quote "Has anyone ever heard of crossing of mint terriblis and yellow or gold terriblis. And what the offspring look like?" I didn't tell him "No, I haven't heard of this", I gave him a reason why I have not. The yellow and gold morphs are new to the hobby and people are still trying to breed them and get widely spread in the hobby. Did a answer the second part of his question, no. Now maybe I could have left off the last sentence in my reply. It was a rhetorical question, but I did get a $.02 answer to it.
If everyone on the board quote "knows the general opinion is that crossing is a horrible idea", then how come it comes up every 2 weeks, beacuse new people come to the board everyday. The orginal poster did show that he new the subject was touchy however. I don't know if it was ever "safe" to ask a question on here, but I do remember when I first started reading this forum and every other answer was "Do a search!"
This was all said calm and in no way ment to hurt anyone's feelings.

I used the title crossing morphs to encourage people to read the post as I know its one of the few topics everyone is passionate about nomatter what side of the issue they are on. I was was not considering trying to cross but i Have a pair of gold terriblis and was thinking of gitting mints as well. At the same time i just thought of Koi morph Galacs and wondered if they were mixed would they look like that or some mixed green gold color. It was not a should i mix question just a Hmmm.. what would it be like.
