Unusual Boa Color... what is it?

reptilicus81 Feb 10, 2004 01:32 AM

My brother just picked up a 3 foot male columbian red tailed boa from a petshop for $100. He is supposedly about a year and a half old. He is amazingly high pink and orange especially around his head. Being a ball python girl myself I am totally clueless to whether this is just a normal columbian. The guy at the store said that all columbians are colorful like this as they are changing into their adult coloration. Is this true?

How is the imperator different from the constrictor subspecies? I read that there is a different number of scale rows....is this accurate?
Thanks

The salesman was correct about the BCI part but wrong when he said that all Columbians look that good at some point. That is a very clean and well colored Columbian. To get a 3 footer that looks that good for the same price as normal looking baby is a great find!
