I had also noticed the difference in feeding response between the males and females. Normally I feed my adult male about every 10 to 14 days. Even then though he would often refuse food initially. What I found was if I left the prey item (I always feed frozen/thawed prey) with the snake overnight, he usually ate. If your feeding live this is a bad idea. I've found the best way to feed these guys is outside there cages in an appropriate sized rubbermaid container (my adults I place in a 24"x16"x6", wet the underside of the newspaper lightly and place over a heat pad set on low. Put the snake in and let it settle in for 15-20 minutes or so then put in the feed item. Place a towel over the container and come back and check in about an hour or so. With a difficult male, check before you go to bed and if it has'nt eaten by then just leave in overnight.
I had'nt noticed a difference in temperment between the sexes. As subadults and adults they are really cool, calm snakes. Babies can be nippy but some report otherwise. I raised 15 babies for awhile and they all seemed defensive.
