cage confusion-help!

ptgirl Feb 10, 2004 05:32 AM

I have checked on cage sizes to purchase a larger cage for Draco. I was told a 40 gal. would be good for a grown dragon. The local pet shop has a 40 gal. that is wide and tall. It comes with a screen top which rolls out. The cage is made of plexiglass and costs $75. The other is from a vendor on a website. They also sell at reptile expos. I was told they have a 40 gal. long complete with a screen top for $80. They would never make their cages from plexiglass. Any suggestions as to size, what to purchase or who to purchase from? Thanks.

A 40 gallon wide would be my suggestion if you are going for that gallon usuage. They are 36" x 18" x whatever I don't remember. A 75 gallon (wide) would be better if your dragon is one of the larger dragons out there for the extra space at 48" x 18" x whatever.

Glass is a better way to go bc a full cage of plexiglass is going to get scratched up from the dragon pretty bad. That is why people prefer glass to plexi.
