The Story of the 2 eggs and The leo

BeardieKid14 Jun 08, 2003 02:53 PM

Well last night around 1 am my sister came into my room and woke me up and said the leopard gecko was about to lay. I didnt quite believe her but I went and checked and saw that the leopard gecko was digging and acting funny. Early that day I had examined her because I noticed her bulges were getting huge. The leopard gecko didnt lay so I went back to bed. When I woke up I was about to go to church and my sister came downstairs and said that the leopard gecko was acting strange and she was positive it would lay. So she turned off all the lights in her room and made it very dark, and we headed off to church. When we got back we found two nice eggs that have an estimated weight of 7 grams. I put them in the incubator using Albeys method only a 1:1. I still thought the perlite was a little dry so I added a cup of water which I set in the incubator to add humity. The incubator is set at 80-85F so I am hoping for females or at least one female. The eggs are a result of breeding a female normal to a male patternless. Then I cleaned the whole cage and added mealworms, a seperate dish of waxworms, fresh water, and a full calcium powder dish. That is the end of my story but I have a few questions:
Do you think I added too much water or will it be too humid?
How often should I feed waxworms and are there any specific times?

Thanks,
Adam Hallquist

I use Albeys method the way it says to do it. Perlite will always feel dry unless really wet. I use deli cups with no ventilation holes just open every few days to change air. The perlite just alows the eggs to stay dry while keeping the humidity up. You can feed wax worms every now anf then maybe llike once a week or so. I just give them some as treats every now and then. They are fatty and not the best for a daily food but will fatten them up good if you have one that eats well and needs weight put on.
