Outdoor enclosures......

kafka Jun 08, 2003 03:30 PM

Ok i plan on putting my igs outside occasionally now that the weather is warm/hot. Can any body tell me what all the enclosure needs to have or what they have had good or bad experiences trying. Any help would be greatful. Also if the enclosure is big enough will two males possibly get along.
Thank you in advance

oh one last question how long is a good length of time for them to be outside

Hi
Last year I built my ig an outdoor cage. It is 8 feet long by 5 feet wide and 6 feet tall. I wish I had made it larger.. but it works. I keep her outside from when I wake up-well gotta feed the kids, eat and feed her first : P - until the sun begins to set. Unless it is too hot/cold. Then it is as long as weather permits.
I built it of 4x4's, 2x4's and wire mesh holes are 1"x2" i believe(I know many people said mistake... but I have had no problems with it and have used it for over a year now)
I used the left over 2x4's for climbing on and put in several old sweatshirts on her favorite spots. I planted several different edibles on the bottom this year.. they are growing slow though.. right now I am using a large kitty litter box for water, switching to a kiddie pool soon as I can find someone with a truck or car large enough to get it here. I put in misters to keep it humid and keep it from getting too hot. I have a pic mid-building, this pic is from the front(the 5' wide part)........
yes I know my door is crooked.. :P some of the boards got warped too.. what is with me and buying wood and then it raining? guess next time I will put it in the garage lol
