I feel ignorant. I should know this.

I'm not sure if this matters or not but..For the past 6 years I have sucessfully maintained both salt and fresh water aquariums as well as semi-aquatic tanks for newts, frogs, ect., and I have both box turtles and aquatic turtles. I have a very high sucess rate and have not had any deaths in years. Even the little guppies wont go away.

So, now you understand how difficult it is for me to ask the following question:

Do African Dwarf Frogs require land to crawl on or are they fully aquatic?

Also,

I have a 5gal aquarium that houses 1 female betta and 3 neon tetras. I was considering placing 1 or 2 dwarf frogs into the aquarium. I have lots of live plants and plenty of hiding places as well as an internal filter (not a powerhead) and a very tight lid. The water level is 1 inch lower than the rim so that the betta can have fresh air. A back portion is secured with very fine mesh screen to allow fresh air. There is plenty of room for a little ledge in the frog needed one but I wasn't sure he needed one.

I also know there are lots of mixed reviews on whether or not a frog should be kept in a fish tank. I feel comfortable with my experience and knowledge to be able to make everyone have a happy life. Since the frog will get bigger, I will eventually transfer the tank to 30gal high or larger.

I would very much like to have these little frogs as they seem very neat animals and fun to listen to. I am more than willing to trash this set up and change to something more accomadating. In other words, I'm open minded about Suggestions and Opinions?

Thanks in advance
Lorinda

just make shure they are dwarf and not regular clawd frogs because they get big and will anything that fits in their mouth. dwarf clawed frogs are fine with fish. they are shy and would love your planted tank .both frogs are aquatic they need no land. In the wild they are only out of water to go to another pond

Instead of the frog you might want to consider two cory cats instead for a bottomfeeder in the tank
