is this normal...?

domingoakasunday Feb 10, 2004 04:20 PM

my female ball python had stopped eating and went a month and a half without eating. then one day she decided to eat again. that was three weeks ago. then I fed her a week and a half ago and she ate one mouse. she used to eat 3 at a time. she now has a bulge in her that has been there since the last feeding. it is the same size as the mouse. when I run my finger up her belly she pulls her belly in all the way up to the one spot where it is too wide for her to pull in. when she is moving if she wraps around something I can see skin between her scales. is there anything I can do? is she just digesting slowly?...

Odd. It's normal for Balls to go off of feed for a few months, but that sounds strange. What are you temps? A lot of times Balls won't properly digest, or regurgitate, their food because of improper temperatures. A vist to the Vet might be in order.

my warm side is ambiant air = 84 substrate hot spot= 90 cool side is ambiant air = 78 substrate hotspot = 82

humid. = steady 65% because of an ultrasonic humidifier in the room. substrate is not wet. she has a bowl big enough for her to lay in. she drinks out of it a few times per week...

Hmm. I don't have a clue. When did she deficate last? She might be constipated...or impacted. Try soaking her for an hour or two, if she's constipated that'll deal with that problem. What type of substrate are you using? If it doesn't clear up very soon, you might want to take her to the Vet.
