Thought people might like to see an x-ray of a bearded dragon, nothing wrong here, we were just ruling out that an over excited dragon that ran in the the sofa when tying to impress the girls did not break something.

Very cool! Do you have one with his head visible?
so I wanted to rule out a broken back. The vet thinks he needs some rest and antiflamatories, pulled some back muscles. Today he is moving them more, but still a couch potatoes... scared me a lot, when he hit it knocked the breathe out of him
But it did impress the girls!

What do you meen by this Joel? Doesnt the beardie digest the bones anyway? I mena I thought that is why we fed them to gravid females was for the high calcium content of the bones. Just wnadering.

We feed them for the high fat content mostly.
I also don't see how the pelvic bone really has much to do with feeding pinkies either, as long as temps are ok and the beardie has chance to digest the meal properly. I am sure Joel or someone else will let us know LOL

Providing their digestive systems are in check & temps are right etc. But, they are supposed to digest crickets much easier & yet, too large of crickets can cause lower paralyses??
It's just, the x-ray shows what a small space everything has to pass through, & bones are the hardest thing to digest for them (in a normal diet that is)
I give my gravid female small pinks from time to time too,, don't get me wrong,, I've just seen lots of posts where people feed small mice or fuzzies,, what ever, to their dragons, just as a norm. food source.
I hope that makes sense of what I was saying. lol

The X-ray shows how small the pelvis is,, Just keep that in mind when you are choosing the "SIZE" pinky you are offering. You never know how well they will be able to digest the bones. The older/larger the pink, the more developed & harder the bones are, thus, harder to digest.
Pheww..
Sorry for the confusion.

Havin a rough day there Joel........LOL
Take care,
Karen
I've been fighting an outbreak of flagylites for about 3 months now and close to $400 (which includes an HMO $$ that I didn't even find out about until about half way into this ordeal)
Anyway, it's not responding to treatments,,, I've tried every dosage / time span etc. of Flagyl
It's come down to
A. It's not flagylites at all & I'm treating for the wrong thing.
B. It's a highly resistant strain
C. The meds I'm getting are crap.
I've done everything by the book.
Paper towels, Bleach, Nolvasan, Odorsban, Novlsan baths/sprayings, Totally renewing my bug colonies, I've just removed the pellets to see what happens, Washing veggies with soap & warm water/ then putting them in "ICE" water (to shock anything that may still be on them), Spot cleaning the cages after every single poo, & the list goes on & on.
I just don't know what else to do.
I'm going to the Vets next week, with an animal & fecal & I'm going to handcuff myself to the exam table until they can get this right. lol
I haven't sold a single dragon since this happen.
Oh,, for those who don't know,,, I believe it spread from a quarantine dragon I bought this year. I think it happen when I flew up to MI for a week, this last fall. I cam home & found runny poos in several of the bins & it spread to all of them from there.
I tell you,, if it wasn't for the snakes,, piggy backing the dragons, I would have really been frustrated. lol The snakes have helped fund this little expedition. lol
I forgot to mention,, they all look healthy as horses even though they have been through all this???
So Karen,, how are you?

Now that is a great photo! I am amazed at how small and delicate the pelvic girdle looks...If anyone has ever had their thumb pinched between a bearded's tail and hind leg then you know what I mean... Kevin
