NEED HELP!!

thegeckobarn Feb 11, 2004 10:57 AM

Well, I found out that my first eggs of this season are fertile last night. Anyway...they are denting really bad. Ive added more moisture...this doesnt help...ive put holes in the container, and they're still denting. When I took them out to candle them one last time (thinking they were infertile) they hardened up as soon as hitting the air. Are they not getting enough ventilation?? Or would that be too harmful.

Ive always used sealed containers, and yes..ive had a few colapse on me before...with half grown babies inside that all made it..but none this early (3 days).
I fear these eggs wont make it 1/2 the time of incubation because they will colapse around the baby.

Anyone got any ideas on what to do???

What do you use for an incubation medium, and what is you mix? I have placed moist paper towel over dented eggs with good success.

I was using Albey's method, its worked great for many clutches..but I guess some eggs are JUST not the same as others.
Probably has something to do with the thickness of the shell, I dunno. But I will give it more ventilation ASAP.
Thanks!

Any other ideas would be appreciated also!

Eggs in the incubator need good ventilation, and a lot less water in the medium than you would expect. Since the eggs hardened up when you removed them from the incubator, this might indicate that they need more air and less moisture.
