would a vision cage or a Boaphileplastics cage be good and which one is safer.
I would go with a vision....thats what I have and it is the best thing Ive ever bought. I think they are better suited for boas/pythons...I havent seen the other ones with heat lamp openings..just my opinion
the "other ones" don't have heat lamp openings because...
-boas are nocturnal
-boas prefer belly heat
-heat lamps waste energy
-heat lamps can disrupt the light cycle (how do you heat yours at night?)
-boas prefer lower ceilings, it provides a more secure feel, and reduces stress. visions are too tall, which also moves the heat lamp further away from the cage floor.
Boaphiles cages are better designed to suit the *specific* needs of boa constrictors, while Visions are more of a general reptile cage. they're too tall, the whole "heat lamp" issue, and they're more expensive to outfit totally, including heat.
Vision's Model #415 --- 48" wide --- 16" deep --- 21" high --- $274.00 ea. (from vision's website) NO HEAT INCLUDED in this price! this price also DOES NOT INCLUDE SHIPPING!
Boaphile's 421D --- 48" wide --- 24" deep --- 11.5" high---
$264 INCLUDING BUILT IN HEAT AND SHIPPING COST!!
personal preference, of course.
those who prefer to spend more money on something less suited to their animals are totally entitled to do so and brag about it on the internet.
Best of luck!

First off, you sound like a salesperson for Boaphile tanks. Secondly, ever hear the expression "You get what you pay for"? Vision enclosures are expensive because they are a high end product for hobbyists/professionals who want only the best for their animals.
Your arguement is that Boas are nocturnal...that goes without saying, but what does that have anything to do with the post? The heat lamp I use has a infrared bulb as to not disrupt the snakes photoperiod. Learn a thing or two.
You also mention that boas "prefer belly heat". I feel bad for your boas if they have warm bellies and the top of their body is cold. Boas would actually prefer even consistent heat throughout their body (of course only on the warm side of the tank), rather than localized heat that will only heat the bottom of their body.
Of course height isnt as important as length for boas. THats because they arent arboreal snakes. Doesnt take an Einstein to figure that one out. My Vision tank measures 48'x 28'x 18. I hardly think 18 inches is a height waste for an adult boa.
Im not sure why you tried to get at me when I just stated my opinion that I had good experience with Vision tanks....you ended up looking like the amateur that you probably are in this hobby by making ignorant statements. Do some research then come back to post on this forum.
