Try a place called:
E and T Plastics
45-45 37th. Street
Long Island City, NY 11101
(718) 729-6226

I work for a company that services some of the eqipment they use. I know them really well over there, and they have every type of plastic you can imagine. I buy my sheets of plastic from them all the time, and they always hook me up. I paid $50.00 for a 4x10 sheet of 1/2" scratch resistant Lexan. I am not sure you will be able to get the prices I get being that I know them for so long, but if they dont have what you are looking for no one will. They have a huge warehouse, and cut to order as well. They make plastic products for medical institutions, Dept. of Transportation, Government Contracts, as well as Military. When you call as for Jan in sales. Jan is a guy, so dont get spooked if you hear a mans voice. They are great people. They sell the plastic sheets as well as manufacture products. Hope this helps you out.
Good luck,
Chris

DUDE! you rule thanks for the info.so what kind of monitors do you have??

psykoink Feb 11, 2004 06:10 PM

I have kept all types of monitors for many years. I only keep 2 now. I have a Croc Monitor, and my wife has a Yellow Ackie. Most of my collection consists of venomous snakes now. 50 to be exact. Mostly Cobras, Gaboons, Bush Vipers, Cantils, and Sidewinders. My favorites are still Gaboons, but I have been focusing most of my time with Cobras. My favorite monitors are Crocs and Water Monitors. I have had tons of monitors, but they take up a lot of room, and are always a mess. Although my Cobras crap everyday. I just got done building an enclosure for my Croc. He will be a year old on the 15th. of this month, and he is already over 6 feet. I dont even power feed him. He ate a lot up until he was 6 months old, then I started feeding him on Sundays only. His claws are about an inch long, and his head without his neck is about as long as my hand from the heal to the finger tips. His temperment is good too. If I had more space I would have more monitors. I got this croc when he was a month old. I will be getting another one this year. I hope that the info I gave you works out. They are good people their, and will do the best they can for you. Let me know what they charge you for what your getting. Maybe I can do something for you.

sounds awesome bro thanks. yea i've had a few but none now because i rent. i think my landlord would crap himself at the site of a 5 to 6 foot lizard..lol i adore gaboons.. i don't know if I will ever own any hot reptiles other than a gila monster (which I don't own yet) but I have always been in love with the gaboon patterns. Once i saw it crossed with a rhino viper & it was just amazing. it was the beauty of a western gaboon outlined & fused with the bright deep red from the rhino. so what species do you feel is the most friendly (even though that's a joke..lol) out of the hot snakes. are gaboons vicious or relatively easy to handle. I've never personally handled one but they seem to be calmer than other hot snakes i've seen up close.

thanks again

Joe,
Actually, the most popular misconception about Gabbies is they look very calm and complacent. The truth is that Gabbies will just sit and do nothing, and then WHACK! It happens so fast that the naked eye doesnt even see it coming. I have 15 Gabbies right now, and all of them hiss like hell, but when you introduce food they just sit there. The strike happens so fast all you see is the rat hanging from their mouth. They can strike in any direction including backwards with almost 100% accuracy. They are definitly not for beginers, and even some very experienced keepers dont work with them. Gabby/Rhino crosses are nice, but a bit expensive for a natural occuring interbreed. As far as beginner hots go, I cant really say their is one. They are all different in the way they are kept, and attitudes vary. My first hot was a mangrove snake when I was 15, then bush vipers and gabbies. I only started working with cobras when I felt that I was ready. No 2 snakes even of the same species are the same. Not much different than humans. If you are looking to get into hots, learn as much as you can about what you want to keep, then try and get somone to teach you how to work with them. Its better to know what you want then it is to go through different species and do trial an error. If you ever need any info on anything in particular let me know. I will be more than happy to help you any way I can.
Talk soon,
Chris
