Sonoran Bull Intergrade?

Bigmoqui Feb 11, 2004 12:02 PM

This one is from eastern Arizona. It looks like a natural intergrade to me, but I thought I'd ask you guys. John, what do you think?

there's no sayi anywhere near AZ. Bulls closest western most range is the eastern 1/3 of NM. That's a great looking Gopher no matter what! And it should be pure affinis, but very unique. Did it come from a higher elevation (one of the SE mountain ranges) by chance? There can be some interesting regional variation in other species from some of those "hills." Post a few more pics if you have some, just because it's so nice!

That is funny. I never thought to check. It just looked so much like a bull and it was from far eastern Az, so I assumed we had bulls here(I guess because we have so much stuff that's native). I have no other good pictures of this snake, let's just say he was not a nice snake and I didn't want to deal with an angry snake in captivity, so I took one picture and let him go on his way. I want to go out to the same spot this spring and find one that isn't full grown already.
