So I was just curious exactly how big these monsters are supposed to get. Bam Bam from head to top of tail is over 11 inches already and he isn't even a year old. Pebbles is barely 8 inches. Is he just gonna keep growing?? Is she hopefully gonna catch up to him?

Well my Kong is 15 1/4 inches or a tad more now ! And he still sheds and grows.

They don't fully mature till around 3 years old. They say about 12 -14 inches usually tops !

Have they been romantic with one another yet?

She isn't blushing and he isn't head bobbing so I think all is safe.

Hi,

It really depends on the species and sub-species and whether they are male or females. But like Eve was saying 13-14 inches long (good size for males) but females probably 11-13 inches maximum for most Collared Lizards available to hobbyists. Males will almost always be larger than the females, in length and overall size. Some species/sub-species can grow to over 16 inches on average, while others may only grow to 10 - 12 inches in length. Females continue to grow throughout their life and males will reach their maximum size at 3 years of age like Eve was saying. Most of the Collared lizards which hobbyists are keeping and breeding are various species/sub-species of the Eastern Collared Lizard which will average in size 12-14 inches in length, some will get larger.

What's called the "Eastern collared lizard" IS its own species (Crotaphytus collaris) and there are no longer any recognised sub-species in Crotaphytus. We sometimes refer to former subspecies (such as C. c. auriceps) since it makes a good 'shorthand' for lizards with a particular color pattern from a certain area.
