Feeding schedule....

the Rigger Feb 11, 2004 03:37 PM

I have a male Tremper albino. He weighs about 60g and is approximately 10 months old. He is in very good health, except he has some weird eating habits. He eats really well, but only about once a week. He has a bowl full of mealies, but never touches them. He likes to be fed by dropping them in front of him and will eat 15-20 when doing it this way. But he then will wait another week, sometimes longer before he is ready to eat again. Does anyone else have this sort of behavior from their leos?

Thanks

Instead of feeding 20 at a time could you feed him say... 10 every 3 days rather than a week. Or does he not respond to food unless it's been a while.

He doesn't respond to food unless it has been a while. If I open the top of his cage, he comes out and just wants to climb on my hand and be curious. But he is really healthy, I'm just wondering if other people have had similar situations. Maybe I should try other prey items as well?

Thanks

Try some crickets and waxworms or silk worms. See if theres any response.

Well my gecko doesnt really like to eat from her bowl either. Instead i just drop them in like you. Do you try to drop them in every day or just once a week when you see that the mealies arent being eaten?
